Dear Dr. D Kurac ,
Re: Mr Andy Williams, aged 65
I am referring Mr Williams, who is obese with BMI 46.6kg/m2 requires, evaluation of obesity as well as recommendations for surgical treatment. The surgery will be considered based upon your suggestions.
Mr Williams has been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, hypertension, Gout and sleep apnea for which he is on Insulin two times per day along with metforin 850 mg. He is also on atorvastatin 10 mg , lisnopril, nifipedine and allopurinol.
He is obese from childhood and had family history of obesity and reports weight gain every year ; therefore, engaged himself in medical weight loss programs ; however regained weight after discontinuing programmas. In the past he was resistant to bariatric surgery because of its complications.
Mr Williams is a radiologist, lives with partner and very much depressed about financial issues and also due to stress at work for which he developed binge eating , once in a month. His dietary habits are regular meals with limited fast food, and is non alcoholic.
Based on the above mentioned details, Mr Williams was very concerned about health and also interested to know about surgical options . In view of this , it would be highly beneficial to him if you evaluate his condition and recommend for surgical treatment.
